OUR ROAD TO ALPHA
In every company, the primary aim is to profit. Regardless of the tangible or intangible nature of business, numbers prevail in the end. All that matters is a string of well-maintained returns called “results” – a sound plan, especially for entrepreneurs. The problem, however, is that it’s an idea. Often times, ideas go as far as the drawing board or a printout because a lot of factors come into play. The most important concern that influences all of this is culture. Culture is a collection of beliefs and customs within a group or society. This is why the kind of culture a company carries influences profit. A toxic culture creates experiences that impact performance, driving the company to a downward spiral.
So how do you fix this problem? Create a culture that inspires employees to give their clients a good experience. Take for example coffee shops. You often see these premises crowded with people. Many of those who enter hang out to enjoy the cozy lounge. The relaxed environment keeps customers coming back for more of this pleasing ambience. The same can be said with companies. If the culture within a company creates positive experiences, employees will be motivated and clients will remain loyal.
This is the very reason why Jenny Constantino, Vice President of RealPage Manila, spearheaded the Amazing Customer Experience initiative. The idea of having a positive culture inspires everyone to work hand-in-hand and deliver a great experience for every potential or current client.

The initiative launched in March 2016 through a series of two-hour sessions. To get a better grasp of the program, Deej (Digi-Ana Walit), one of the attendees, shares her experience.
Prior to the ACE program, what were your thoughts about it?
Honestly, before the program, I kept thinking about how it would affect the team’s productivity for the day. Having to attend a two-hour session on a day when backlogs are piled up wasn’t exactly thrilling for me. After the session though, I was glad I got to attend one.
Would you mind telling about your experience throughout the session?
Overall, it was a good experience for me and it was because of 3 things: 1) the interesting documentary film, “Jiro Dreams of Sushi”, 2) the discussion on the scientifically proven effects of optimism and pessimism, and 3) the explanation on how everything else follows (professional and financial success) when you’re doing your best in the work that you do.
Did the activity reinforce your career goals or perhaps, inspire you to step up as a RealPage Alpha?
Yes, especially when Boss Jenny said that everything else follows when you’re giving your best in the work that you do. A person simply cannot expect rewards without hard work. If one aims for a promotion, one must first prove why he or she deserves it, and that’ll be evident in one’s work quality and dedication. "You reap what you sow".
Is the ACE initiative something you would consider beneficial to the company as a whole?
Yes, because once in a while, people need to be reminded of their purpose. If people are going to work simply to occupy space and earn money, there won’t be any sense of fulfillment. If people come to work every day fully aware of their purpose and personal goals, then there’s that feeling of rejuvenation. This, in turn, reflects in peoples’ output and work quality, creating a positive experience for the customers, which is always great for business and even the society.
Based on the interview, the A.C.E. initiative has begun helping employees of RealPage realize the importance of a positive culture. As Ms. Jenny had previously mentioned in her email,
“Breathe and live Alpha…We are stronger together! One amazing RealPage!”
