BOWL AND BUFFET
IMPLEMENTATIONS TEAM BUILDING
Edsel Flores, Director of Implementations, spearheaded the Implementations team building activity last June. The event began at Paeng’s Eastwood Bowl in Eastwood, Quezon City. Attendees arrived at 8:00 A.M., scrambled to their color-coded teams, and immediately engaged in the bowling contest after a brisk speech from the management. A fair number of participants weren’t proficient in the game but quickly learned after a few swings. What started off as a set of failed attempts later became a string of successful strikes. Some members even showcased techniques that left the crowd in breathtaking anticipation. It was such a riot!
The bowling contest comprised three sets that took a few hundred shots to complete. Each team enjoyed playing and scored fairly high. Hours of tossing eight-, ten-, and fourteen-pound bowling balls worked up an appetite that sets the mood for lunch. After the game, the management tallied scores and rallied the entire division to Vikings at SM Marikina for the second half of the team building event. Upon arrival, RealPagers combed through the different buffet counters and picked their share of treats from grilled meals to mouth-watering desserts. It didn’t take long before people drifted back to food stations for their second, third, and fourth servings. Who’s to blame if the relaxed ambience and tasty delicacies kept everyone coming back for more? The eat out lasted longer than expected and as the event came to a close, some groups decided to spend more time over a few rounds of drinks.
Overall, the Implementations team building was a success. This event further established trust and communication through active participation. It’s not easy to unify a small group and it takes a lot more when it comes to an entire division, but this kind of activity helps individuals establish social connections. By finding a common ground, people can better understand each other and eliminate the occurrence of indifference and misunderstanding within the company. It’s a step towards success and a positive reinforcement that RealPagers can learn from as they travel on the road to being an alpha.
