10 THINGS TO KEEP KOBE BRYANT BUSY AFTER RETIREMENT

by Julius Asturiano

Kobe Bryant has been in the basketball spotlight for so long. Now on the cusp of his 20th season in the NBA, he finally concedes to the heed of Father Time. Since announcing his retirement, the Lakers' 2015-2016 season has become his official farewell tour. Every NBA arena presents a fitting tribute to his legacy. Here are ten suggestions for Kobe to ponder after his final buzzer.

1. Earn a degree #BackToSchool
After being a McDonald's All American in high school, he skipped College to strut his wares at the NBA's biggest stage. With plenty of time to spare, he can now finish his studies. Besides, there’s no more need to impress scouts in acquiring a scholarship grant from top US universities!

2. Revive his rap career
#TheEightMan
Unbeknownst to many, in the summer of 1998 Kobe dawdled into a rather forgettable stint as an MC. Sony Entertainment signed Kobe and his posse CHEIZAW in the hopes that he’ll be the next Will Smith. However, his debut album “Visions” never saw daylight ever, y’all!

3. Raise awareness on snake venoms #BlackMambaAid
With around 20,000 annual casualties on envenoming in the world, it is apt to boost attention in helping combat this predicament. Kobe can use his stature to pitch for better research and latest technology. After all, that black mamba moniker can also be useful!

4. Lobby for a slot as a TNT broadcaster
#GiftOfGab
Loner, selfish, and arrogant are just some of the words used to describe this man. Put him alongside Shaq, Chuck, and Reggie and let them bring off the charts entertainment on live TV. The truth is, when Kobe speaks, everyone listens!

5. Spearhead a family core advocacy
#MillionsSaved
Back in December 2011, Kobe’s wife Vanessa filed for the dissolvent of their union, citing for the infamous irreconcilable differences route. After two years, all divorce proceedings were officially dropped. Kobe wins big again!

6. Write a (motivational) book
#HarryPotterFanatic
Kobe’s mental fortitude helped him overcome his personal obstacles, such as controversies, playoffs loses, and the injury bug. What truly sets him apart is his relentless work ethic, result obsession, and ruthless competitiveness. FYI: Kobe is currently the Editorial Director of the Player’s Tribune!

7. Try his luck at football
#Mambacurial

Soccer is to Kobe Bryant, as baseball is to MJ. He learned the sport as a kid growing up in Italy. Everyone is aware of MJ’s foray into baseball, but what if Kobe ply the same route and try to score some goals? Ole, ole ole!

8. Open his own restaurant
#BuonAppetito
Former NBA player Jellybean Bryant named his son to his favorite Japanese beef menu. Little did he know that his son would be more famous later on. If the blue print was already set, why not milk it further and be a certified restaurateur? If Michael has done it, so why can’t he?

9. Globalize the Mamba brand
#DamnDaniel

LeBron and Durant may have overtaken Kobe in the sneakers sale category in recent years due to his inactivity. However, he could still reclaim his runner-up status to Jordan if he takes a drastic effort for a better relevance in his post-retirement. It must be the shoes!

10. Bid for Lakers ownership
#HeadHoncho
Even if he convinces the Buss family to take over the dominion of the Showtime franchise, the $24 question is, will he flourish as a Team Executive? He was once quoted: Friends hang from time to time, banners hang forever. By this time, the Michael Jordan trend is crystal clear!
